Anne and Diana full watercolor

We are now officially in three days till the end of July, as this Saturday starts with the first day of August! Within that it’s that time again for a new Watercolor of the Month topic.

There were a total of 16 Watercolor of the Month topics so far since last month, but now we are getting to a new total of 17 posts right here on The Autistic Animator’s Desk. Pretty soon, with three more, I’ll be reaching for 20 someday! It’s been pretty amazing! The watercolor drawing that I selected for the new 17th Watercolor of the Month for this year’s July is the fan art illustration of Anne and Diana at the Island, based off L.M. Montgomery’s literature classic, Anne of Green Gables.

In this drawing we see two young girls, Anne Shirley and her ‘bosom friend’, Diana Barry, hanging out together on a bright, sunny day on a beautiful setting of Prince Edward Island. This was already painted for this year, and I have already posted here on this blog back in February. This fan art illustration shows you of Anne and Diana spend their time together as best friends, or should I say as ‘bosom friends’. They were a great team, they both share a lot of things they have in common, and they grow up together. Of course, Anne Shirley has a strong sense for imagination that she can use as an escape from horrible things, and with Diana, she is very inspired by Anne’s wonderful imagination. Whenever Anne is in trouble, she can always counted on her beloved friend, Diana to help out. And if Diana is ever in trouble, she knows she can always counted Anne to help her out too, even when Anne became a hero to save Diana’s little sister, Minnie May’s life from the croup.

For me, the important about this drawing is to capture a strong friendship between the two young girls, enjoying their lives together, going out and explore beyond the glorious Prince Edward Island to run and play, and they even both like to share and write fantastic stories, as in the book, Anne formed a Storybook Club, so she, Diana, Jane Andrews, and Ruby Gillis can try and learn to write their own stories and sharing it to each other, and with Anne, she’s an expert on expressing stories by using her imagination. Whenever you see Prince Edward Island, either you’re reading the novel, watching any different film adaptations, or looking at this illustration here, you can see how beautiful and calm the island is, taken place in Canada; you can see the tall grasses greener, the flowers blooming in the fields,  feel the wind blowing by the sea side, and the sea water swimming through the shore. And I think Lucy Maud Montgomery really captured the spirit of the island very well and very inspiring. I also think that Prince Edward Island is Anne and Diana’s own playground.

So I hope you’ll enjoy reading the new topic for the 17th Watercolor of the Month, and in case if you haven’t got the chance to read more about my fan art watercolor illustration of Anne and Diana, you can go to the previous topic, titled, ‘Anne and Diana at the Island (watercolor, 2020)’. I can’t believe we’re getting close to August, and pretty soon, we’ll be reaching down for another beautiful fall setting in September.

Have a great day! 😀
